What We’ve Learned After Building 120+ Vans

We started building camper vans before the COVID boom—before there were endless products and plug-and-play systems designed specifically for vans. Back then, we had to figure things out the hard way.

We were modifying RV components, piecing together electrical systems, and creating our own solutions to challenges that are unique to off-grid camper vans. It forced us to truly understand how every system works—not just install it.

Fast forward several years, and the industry has transformed. Today, there are products for nearly everything you could want in a van. That evolution has been incredible to watch—and it’s raised the overall quality of camper vans across the board.

At Wanderful Wheels, we’ve made it a priority to stay at the forefront of that innovation. We’re constantly refining our builds, integrating better technology, and improving how our vans function in real-world use. The goal is simple: build camper vans that are not just beautiful, but highly functional, reliable, and ready for life on the road.

Over time, we’ve also learned what actually works for most people.

After building 120+ vans, we’ve refined a set of layouts that balance comfort, storage, and versatility—layouts that we’ve seen meet the needs of about 70% of our clients. These ready-to-go vans are designed to make traveling easier, more enjoyable, and more intuitive from day one.

That said, we also know that some people have a very specific vision.

When our set layouts don’t quite fit your needs, we offer customization to get it right. We genuinely enjoy the challenge of designing around unique priorities and helping clients create a van that fits their lifestyle perfectly.

At the end of the day, every van we build is shaped by years of experience, constant iteration, and a deep understanding of how people actually live and travel in these spaces.
